Winter Games NZ is the largest winter sports event outside the Winter Olympics, and features over 800 of the world's top athletes competing in 26 snow sports disciplines - and it's being held right here in New Zealand. With events ranging from ski racing to curling; snowboarding to skating; and freestyle skiing/boarding to ice hockey, the Winter Games are a spectacle you won't want to miss!
Held from 21-30 August 2009, mostly around Queenstown and Wanaka, Winter Games NZ provides elite winter sports athletes from all over the world with the ultimate venue to experiment and test their performance limits against some of the world's best competition. This unique event gives spectators a fantastic and rare opportunity to see some of the world's best winter sports athletes in action, many of whom will undoubtedly go on to be medal winners in Vancouver in 2010.
The ten-day long Winter Games also include a range of off-snow activities for spectators with live music and entertainment in downtown Queenstown and Wanaka.
